Aunt Emma's Danish Pudding

Sauce

1 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
1 orange rind

Mix sugar and juice and rind of 1 orange but do not cook. I use California oranges because they have a thick skin.

Pudding

½ Lb. Butter
1 ¾ cup sugar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 pkg. dates (8 oz.)
1 cup black walnuts
1 teaspoon orange juice
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon grated orange rind

Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Line tube pan with wax paper and grease well. Bake Pudding ingredients for 1 hour 15 minutes or until done. When you take it out of the oven let stay in pan and pour sauce over it at once while still hot.
